Why this site exists

This trade runs on worry, and the distance between what a house needs and what gets quoted for it is routinely thousands of dollars. Somebody looking at photographs of their own stained joists has no way to judge whether the number in front of them is reasonable, and the sales process depends on exactly that.

So this site does two things. It lays out what each option is and roughly what it costs, in plain language, with the cheap answers stated rather than buried. And it puts you on the phone with a licensed contractor who will get under the house and read the framing before quoting anything.

How the work gets done

Every job on this site is carried out by a licensed Tennessee contractor. We are not the crew in the truck, and we will tell you who is coming before anyone is scheduled. If you want to check a license yourself, the Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors is the register.
